Any camper knows that there are plenty of accessories in the world of caravanning, but undoubtedly awnings and canopies are some of the most used and prized at any time of the year. They basically provide us with three advantages:
-Greater protection against inclement weather (cold, wind and sun).
-Enlargement of the caravan space.
-Privacy.
When choosing one or another, it is important to bear in mind:
· The size, which we’ll calculate according to the length of caravan profile, plus its distance to the floor.
· What they will be used for: eating, storage, sleeping…
· The fabrics. There are awning and canopies made of polyester (quick-drying, breathable, light and more economical) and made of acrylic (stronger and more resistant, with a high quality)
Canopies require more assembly time than awnings because they are heavier. They are designed for longer stays and serve as an additional camping tent to our caravan while giving more privacy.
They can also be fitted with mosquito nets or windows to provide more ventilation inside. Innovations in this market are constantly coming out! One of them is the inflatable canopy: more practical and easier to assemble. Here’s an example:
