Therefore, it is important to be as prepared as possible so that we can resolve any obstacles we may encounter on our journey.
One of the things we can carry when we go camping is that can help us solve more than one problem, it is a first aid kit. Yes, the campsite itself will probably have one that is complete and available to campers, but it will be easier for you to handle any incident if you have a hand. In addition, if you go on a nature excursion during your stay at the campsite, you can take it with you without any problems!
WHAT IS A FIRST AID PHARMACY, AND WHAT IS IT FOR?
A first aid kit is a container, bag or case that contains the necessary elements to act in case of minor injuries or ailments that, in principle, do not require medical attention.
Therefore, it is a resource that allows you to fix a mild medical contingency. If the medical condition is serious, consult a doctor and in the event of a very serious emergency, do not hesitate to call for help on the 112 emergency number.
WHAT SHOULD A FIRST AID PHARMACY CONTAIN?
The contents of the first aid kit will depend on the type of trip or excursion you want to do, the number of people who depend on it and their age, as, for example, there are medical resources that are not recommended for children.
However, the basic elements that are recommended to carry in the first aid kit when you go camping are:
- Wipes: Basic for any first aid kit. They are used to covering small wounds or cuts
- Corticosteroid ointment: for insect bites and skin irritations.
- Antiseptics: It is recommended to use Chlorhexidine, and it is used to disinfect any type of wound. Better than Betadine, which is not indicated for pregnant women, young children or infants. On the other hand, Chlorhexidine does not stain, unlike Betadine.
- Gauze: They are used to clean wounds and remove dirt. They can also be used as a dressing if they do not have hand wipes.
- Bandages: For larger wounds that cannot be covered with gauze, or for bandages and immobilization in the event of more serious injuries.
- Scissors: Especially for cutting the material we use.
- Adhesive tape: Used to make small bandages or to improvise, together with a gauze, a dressing.
- Alcohol: Can be used to cleanse healthy skin or disinfect the material we are using.
- Tweezers: They will be useful if we stick a small chip or similar.
Medications:
In addition to the basics of the first aid kit, it is also advisable to bring some medications that can complement these first aid.
We must clarify that we are not recommending the inappropriate consumption of these products. It is important not to overdo it and consume it when necessary. Everyone is responsible for their use. It is also important not to leave it in any place where children can easily access it.
Thus, we may encounter some setbacks such as fever or stomach ache (among other things) that we can solve by taking the relevant medicine to the first aid kit:
- For fever, pain or inflammation: Ibuprofen / Paracetamol
- Stomach Protector: Omeprazole
- Antacids: Almax
- Diarrhea: Sueroral and Ultralevura
Above all, it is very important that you consult your doctor or pharmacist about the use of these medicines. If you have an allergy or illness and need any other medication, you can add it to the first aid kit and make it part of this kit.
