The Turtle Breeding Center of l’Albera, in Garriguella is only 15 minutes by car from Camping Mas Nou . This visit will allow you to know closely the work of study, conservation and breeding of the Mediterranean turtle, the only native land turtle in the Iberian Peninsula and in serious danger of extinction.
The center is also working on the recovery of species from the rest of the world, and on welcoming exotic turtles that have been abandoned by their owners.
More than twenty species of turtles from all over the world live peacefully in this space in the middle of the Alt Empordà, and it’s an ideal option for a family visit
You can observe the laying of turtles’ eggs, the birth and the treatment of the hatchlings and also check the sensitizing task this organization carries out. This is transmitted to the youngest (and oldest) through didactic and audiovisual activities.
We recommend you to make the visit in the mornings, when the turtles are more active. Have fun!

Spring: from March 21st to June 30th – from 10am to 1pm. Mondays closed.
Summer: from 1st July to 10th September – from 10am to 6pm. Open every day.
Autumn: from 11th September to 31st October – from 10 am to 1 pm. Mondays closed.
